David Shepherd, a distinguished British wildlife artist and conservationist, was born on April 25, 1931, in Hendon, London. Recognised for his exceptional talent in capturing the beauty and majesty of wildlife, Shepherd became a prominent figure in both the art world and wildlife conservation.

Shepherd's artistic journey began with formal training at the Royal Academy Schools. He initially worked as an aviation artist, drawing on his passion for aircraft and his experiences as a pilot during his National Service in the Royal Air Force.

In the 1960s, Shepherd shifted his focus to wildlife art, gaining widespread acclaim for his paintings depicting African animals, particularly elephants and rhinoceroses.
