Willard Leroy Metcalf (1858–1925) was a prominent American Impressionist painter known for his atmospheric landscapes and intimate depictions of rural life. Born on July 1, 1858, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Metcalf demonstrated a talent for art from a young age, receiving his formal training at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
